About the client

The story began in 1976 with a pick-your-own strawberry field. Grandfather Josef Hofreiter thus laid the foundations for the concept that the family has expanded over three generations: berry fields, the Lochhausen maize maze, and several BeerenCafés around Munich. Today, Monika, Stefanie and Thomas Hofreiter run the business.

On 27 March 2026, the Hofis Adventure Park opened in Dasing – the family’s biggest project to date. “Crazy. Berry-filled. Bavarian.” To get things off the ground, they needed a brand identity that would appeal to young families, and a booking system through which birthday parties and cakes could be booked without a phone call.

The result is a website with its own visual language – hand-drawn elements, jagged edges, mascots – and, behind the scenes, a booking system that brings together four locations, several booking types and separate booking groups under one roof.

Anyone ordering a T-shirt is buying a product. Anyone booking a children’s birthday party is reserving a resource: a table, at a specific time, at a specific location, for a specific number of children – and then adds packages, cakes and extras.

This was precisely what the system requirements entailed:

  • To manage different types of bookings across multiple locations via a shared booking process
  • Processing payments, invoices and credit notes reliably via separate company codes
  • Allow customers to adjust their bookings themselves within a fixed time window
  • Simultaneous bookings must never result in double bookings

The price is shown before you are asked for it.

A children’s birthday party involves lots of different costs: admission per child, a discount depending on the day of the week and school holidays, a deposit on the day tickets, a table booking fee, the package price multiplied by the number of children, plus cake and extras.

Instead of only showing this total at the end, it is displayed throughout the entire process and updates with every click. The savings are also shown. People who know how much something costs whilst they’re putting their order together are less likely to abandon the process or make a phone call.

One more child? No need to ring.

Weeks pass between booking and the event, and during those weeks something almost always changes: a child drops out, two more join in, or it turns out they want a different cake after all. In the past, this would have involved a phone call that someone in the café would take and note down by hand.

Up to 72 hours before the event, bookers can manage their celebration themselves – via their own account, with automatic recalculation and a credit note if the total amount decreases. After that, the team takes over again, as that’s when procurement and staff planning kick in.

    Bavarian, berry-flavoured, mad

Hofis benefits from a brand image that conveys its identity – Bavarian, berry-flavoured, quirky – and from a booking system that handles the bookings itself. Reservations, payments, invoices, changes and credit notes are all processed without the need for a phone call or a diary behind the bar.
