Schwaben Park – An unforgettable adventure on the Schwäbsche Eisenbahne!

"Hans Dampf" indoor attraction

A globally unique attraction that blends tradition and modernity, taking visitors on a TOTALLY CRAZY journey

Since opening in May 2024, Schwaben Park has been offering visitors a multimedia adventure that combines classic railway romance with state-of-the-art technology. From the impressive décor of a historic railway station to fog, lightning, sparks and motion effects – Hans Dampf offers an experience for all the senses.

Come rain or shine, this experience is a draw in every season.

    Stepping into another world

The adventure begins the moment you step into the station building. The first waiting area, equipped with innovative entertainment systems, ensures that the wait is an enjoyable one. In the second room, a giant globe and various animations prepare guests for the journey ahead. A lift – a real highlight in its own right – then takes you down to the underground station, where two platforms await to send guests off on their journey around the world. The wild ride with Hans Dampf

As soon as the doors of the replica historic train close, the multi-sensory experience begins. The journey takes you through the Swabian Forest, beneath the sea’s surface and through the scorching desert. Six moving panels and a special mechanism ensure realistic movements and bumpy sections, making the journey particularly authentic. Visitors experience the journey not only visually, but also through movement, sounds and even smells. Our ‘foot-biters’ provoke screams; at first, guests actually think they’ve just been bitten by a snake in the jungle.

    A technical masterpiece

    • 3 pre-shows / 24 people approx. every three minutes
    • The station building covers 600 square metres.
    • 40 kilometres of cable were laid, and 40 projectors and 21 screens were installed
    • Three virtual characters accompany guests throughout the expedition
    • Two trains, each with 24 seats, can accommodate a total of 48 passengers (540 per hour)
    • Wheelchair users can take part in the ride without any difficulty.

    Special features and highlights

During the ride on the Hans Dampf, guests experience various scenarios with different effects:

    • Swabian Forest: Thick mist and realistic sound effects bring the forest to life.
    • Underwater world: With lightning and water effects, passengers are immersed in the mysterious depths of the sea.
    • Desert: Heat and dry air create the sensation of being in the middle of a scorching desert.

    For the whole family

Hans Dampf was designed to offer visitors of all ages an unforgettable experience. Managing Director (Schwabenpark) André Hudelmaier explains: “My grandfather and my father live by the motto, ‘Here, even a grandmother should be able to ride with her grandson.’ Our new attraction is not weather-dependent and offers an adventure for young and old alike.”

    Visitor feedback

The first guests were delighted with the new attraction. “It’s as if you’re really on a trip around the world. The effects are incredibly realistic,” said one family. The combination of nostalgic railway charm and state-of-the-art technology in particular received widespread praise.
